Whistle is in Liverpool at the Empire Theatre til 30th Jan. Jonathan Ansell (the blonde from G 4) is The man/Jesus. When he first arrives on stage lying on bales of straw, I wasnt sure if it was him, as his hair is longer a darker blonde and he has a slight beard, but when he starts to sing you cant mistake his unique voice. He is outstanding in the role, I didnt realise he was an actor too .When he was having his wounds attended to by Swallow (the eldest daughter) he had a piece of straw unintentionally stuck to the side of his hair . hee hee. Anthony Wren is in ensemble, as well as being dance captain and putting the children thru their paces. Loved seeing Ant on stage again and he is such a friendly person. This is the third production I have seen of WDTW and tbh I havent really liked the others, but this cast are magnificent, every single one of them. They are all believeable in character. David Steadman was MDing with great gusto.Jeremy is keyboards, Kieran in wardrobe, Henry choreography. Jonathan is very nice and down to earth. I said I would like him as a Joseph in the futrue and he said if he was approached if would love to do it. must say hi to David and his dad, and to Amy ;D Try to catch this show whilst its on tour you wont be disappointed. see Liverpool theatre critic review here with pic of Jonathan www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-news/regional-news/2010/01/21/theatre-review-jonathan-ansell-stars-in-whistle-down-the-wind-at-the-liverpool-empire-theatre-92534-25649641

We went to see the show in Sheffield on Saturday & thought it was great. Jonathan has a very powerful voice, he acted well & was quite unrecognisable. All the cast were very good. We thought that the show was very emotional particularly when they sang "No Matter What". We were disappointed that Anthony wasn't there - he was away sorting out this week's show but it was nice to see Jeremy, David Steadman as MD, Tom as assistant MD - he was with Jo for a few weeks recently, Kieran in wardrobe & Mark who was Jo tour manager a few years ago.

We went to see the show in Leeds & hoped that Anthony Wren would be on stage but guess what.... he wasn't, so that was disappointing as he was supposed to be there on the middle Saturday of a "two weeker". We sat separately in the first two rows & it was a great show. Jonathan's hair has got long & a bit scruffy. After the show we asked where Anthony was & were told that he was watching the show & taking notes. We asked if he could come out & he did, which we thought was nice, & he said he normally watches the show on a Wednesday, but some of the cast were ill so he couldn't do it then. We also met some of the other cast & Jeremy was around a lot. We can't get used to him not being in the Jo orchestra!!

It was third time lucky seeing Anthony in the midweek matinee last week. He wasn't on stage a lot but it was lovely to see him performing again. He was on stage because Jonathan wasn't well so Lincoln Stone, his u/s, played the Man & Oliver was on as Boone & they were both very good. Lincoln has a very strong voice & gave a very moving performance. It was nice to see Jeremy again & Tom was the MD.
