Went to A night to Remember yesterday with Season. In memory of Rosemary the Joseph fan who died from Pancreatic cancer Christmas time. I never met her
but she must have been an amazing lady for so many people to turn up and for Trevor Jary (Pharaoh) Tim Driesen (Joseph) Viviene Carlyle(Narrator) and Shaun Dalton George Rae and Jez Unwin( brothers in Joe)) to want to give their time and remember her with fondness and love. Also performing were Juan Miralles, Siubhan Harrison, and Louise McCarthy.
The day started well , Season and I got on our train at Bham New Street at 4pm and off we went. We had just left Coventry when the train came a standstill and it was announced there had been a fatality so we were in for a long wait as Police, Ambulance and relief driver had to come to the scene.
Two hours later we were able to go on our way again, unfortunately it meant we were probably going to miss the start of the Cabaret. As we got to Euston we knew where to get the bus to Charring Cross (or so we thought) so hopped on it. For those of you that don’t do buses, you have to buy a ticket for the journey from a machine by the bus stop before you get on the bus. About 20 mins into the journey Season thought we were going the wrong way, I asked another passenger and she said no you have to go the other direction. DOH. So we got off the bus, and were panicking as the time was getting on. We saw a taxi and hailed that which eventually got us to the right place. That was an extra £16 we hadn’t figured on spending.
Picked up our tickets at the box office and went inside. Trevor was halfway through his songs. We had missed Tim’s intro (he was compere). Found a seat at the back and settled down . Small bar with a spiral staircase in the middle, which had the Pancreatic banner attached to it, so from where we were sitting couldnt see the pianist or the artist if they moved to their right. Never mind it didn’t spoil the evening.
During the interval, I spoke to Trevor, Tim and Shaun and got some piccies taken. Also to Viv and Faye George and Jez.
Shaun treated us to a song from Beauty and Beast and he was amazing, his voice doesnt need a microphone.
Towards the end Trevor sang something he had written for Rosemary after her funeral. Don’t think there was a dry eye in the room.
George Rae said Rosemary always made him smile and he hoped she was looking
down at them.
There was a raffle with some very good prizes . I will leave Ria to tell you how much was made during the evening for the cancer charity.
Hello to Louise, Cheryl, Andrea and Sue.
During the show I could sense someone glancing at me, so I looked at him and we did this on and off. Then I thought to myself he looks like Stuart King (Joseph cast 2005) but looked younger so dismissed it, but the more I sneaked a peek the more I thought yes it was him. As he passed me I said hello Stuart? and he replied hello Lynda, so it was him after all. Had a little catchy uppy.
Tim made a joke about everytime he goes for an audition now the Joseph rejects from ADWD are there.
The evening was for Rosemary of course, but Lee Mead got a few mentions too and everyone is so happy for him and said what a nice chap he is.
Vivien is now appearing in Drowsy Chaperone
Tim, Take That Musical
Trevor, Best little whorehouse in Texas
Shaun is auditioning
George, Company at the Edinburgh Fringe
Stuart King, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Thanks to all involved for a great evening. I hope Rosemary knew how much people thought of her.
We then l,eft to get the bus back to Euston and home.
We eventually got in at 2.30am
George - if you email me on lyndasrobinson@tiscali.co.uk I will sort out that photo.
