I got there! I'm sooo glad I did. Especially after all the snow! So, as you know I am a big Lee fan but I'm also a fan of Hayley. The concert last night was fabulous. Veni Veni Emmanuel is one of my favourites on the album. Hayley's voice soared around the Barbican and gave me shivers down my spine. My other highlights were The Little Drummer Boy, Ave Maria, The Little Road to Bethelehem, Sleigh Ride and Peace Shall Come. Hayley is such a delightful girl On stage she's sweet and funny. I thought she had a great rapport with her band and with Lee. They sang When The Stars Go Blue.. off Lee's second album...I love the way their voices blend together. They really seem to compliment one another. From other stuff they've done this past year and a bit they seem to get on so well and that comes across on stage. Lee's solo performances I thought were brilliant, particularly Anthem from Chess which he belted out with his voice filling the Barbican Theatre. Lee also sang A Winter's Tale which was a stunning rendition. He then came on to sing Sleigh Ride with Hayley. I liked to see the fun they seemed to have with Sleigh Ride. You can't fake the chemistry they have on stage. Hayley and Lee are wonderful, talented artists who happen to be very nice people. I'm pleased I got to meet Hayley last night and tell her how highly I rated her voice. I hope she works with Lee more in the future

Sounds like a great show! I would of been in tears though at Ava Maria, I can't listen to that song anymore, sad memories.
Glad you made it to the show and had such a good time, shame you didn't see Lee afterwards but fab you met Hayley ;D

Lee Mead at the London Coliseum Review Being a member of Whatsonstage’s club meant there was a special ticket offer for Christmas with Lee Mead at the London Coliseum. I arrived not really knowing want to expect- but it was a fantastic night of entertainment. We were greeted with a signed programme from Lee and a Christmas drink in the bar before taking to our seats (which were very good stalls seats). The theatre seemed quite full which was surprising considering the blasted snow! The atmosphere in the theatre was electric with a wide range of ages in attendance. Lee got a warm welcome when he came on stage opening the show with the Rolling Stones number ‘Paint It Black’. Lee sang a wide range of songs- songs from his albums, some of his favourite numbers and some musical theatre performances. I never thought I’d say it, but he is a natural showman. He had the audience in the palm of his hands. Although I think Lee’s strengths lie in singing musical theatre, he performed some beautiful pop and rock songs. I think he proved he was a musical theatre actor/singer when he sang he really told a story with it. Lee sang ‘Beyond The Sea’ which was tribute to the days on the cruise ferry where he started from. From a cruise ferry to the London Coliseum- quite a journey! I can imagine Lee recording a jazz, blue-sy album, with his dulcet tone I would definitely buy it. The musical theatre section involved a stunning version of ‘Close Every Door’. It started off acoustically, you could’ve heard a pin drop, the audience were enthralled. It built beautifully in power and truly was a beautiful version. We also were treated to ‘Anthem’ from Chess. This was an incredible performance showing off an excellent vocal range. Lee really is deep in each moment of the song. Fantastic to watch. ‘Dancing Through Life’ was another musical theatre delight from Lee, although it was a bit odd to hear it without the speaking parts, it was well performed and Lee managed to put some Fiyero moves into it. Lee was joined by Rachel Tucker to sing ‘As Long As You’re Mine’ which seemed odd outside of Wicked, but was a moving and beautifully performed song. Rachel also performed a Barbra Streisand version of ‘Being Alive’ showing off an incredible vocal range. I was very surprised with Lee’s version of ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’, I thought he lived the song, it would be interesting to see him take on Judas. It couldn’t be a musical section without a nod to ‘Any Dream Will Do’ the song he is so well known for. It was a very cheesy moment, with the audience singing along and some glo-sticks but it brought a smile to my face. Christmas songs, of course, had to be involved and Lee performed some distinctive versions of ‘The Christmas Song’ and ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’. I think he was due to sing some more but due to Niamh Perry not being able to make the concert I think the programme changed slightly. I was bowled over by Lee’s stage presence, charisma and humble personality. He made each song so unique. If he wasn’t singing a cheeky number like ‘Kiss’, he was so tender in another song like ‘When You Say Nothing At All’ dedicated to the ‘two ladies’ in his life.” If a wonderful concert wasn’t enough, the lovely people at Whatsonstage arranged mince pies and mulled wine with the chance to meet Lee afterwards. He came into the room and spoke to many people making sure everyone had a conversation with him. There were many photos taken, he must’ve been bored with smiling, but he didn’t seem it. A very humble, gracious performer. If you went to the concert and read this please feel free to share your experiences. Would be great to read what other people thought. soliloqu.wordpress.com/2010/12/20/lee-mead-at-the-london-coliseum-review/© soliloqu.wordpress.com
