On Saturday, 21st November, we went to London for a family party & decided to go early to see Simon Lipkin. The show started with Simon & his uncle (Gareth Hale) decorating the theatre, then they decided to put on a show, A Christmas Carol, with a guy & a girl who were actors. Simon had lots of parts in the show & he played the ghost of Christmas past. He wore an afro wig with flashing lights in it & had a good Scottish accent. There was a puppet cat & mouse & Simon operated the mouse in one scene. In the first half there was some audience participation & we had to get up & dance. Simon is enjoying being in the show & hopes to do more TV work.
We thought the top price seats of £32-50 (£37-50 on Sat eves) were very expensive. There was a Whats on Stage offer of £10 off when we went but they were only available at the back of the stalls. We were able to get concessions for £20 (only available on the day, we think) - we had to sit in the circle but it was ok as the theatre is quite small. There were lots of tube lines closed that day & we had to get a rail replacement bus for the last few miles so we were a bit frazzled when we got to our destination at night.
