The life of Afghan and Iraqi animals is not one of comfort at the best of times; most of the day is spent hunting for scraps of food or hiding from the hot desert sun during the summer or the freezing cold of a desert winter night. There is definitely no pampered pet status in Afghanistan or Iraq.
The Nowzad Dogs charity has been formed to do something positive for the cats, dogs and other animals of Afghanistan and Iraq that have no hope and nobody to care for them. We realise we cannot transport all of the stray dogs of Afghanistan and Iraq to loving homes, but we will do our best to promote animal welfare and to assist in vital animal aid work that is so desperately needed in Afghanistan and Iraq.
All money donated goes directly to helping the animals of Afghanistan and Iraq.
Sponsored Walk
‘Walk to Nowzad’ has been launched! Can you and your four legged friends get outdoors and put some miles in for a great cause? No matter where you live in the world please organise some friends, grab the dog leads (or your cat lead!) and let’s get walking for the strays of Afghanistan.
We hope you will be able to walk a mile or more between the 18th September to 30th October 2010. If together we can walk 3631 miles then we have walked the distance from where Nowzad lives now to his home town of Now Zad in Afghanistan!
If you and your canine buddy would like to walk to Nowzad then please download the application form below or email Melissa on melissa@nowzad.com. Nowzad will be doing his bit and walking on Dartmoor (near Princetown) on Sunday 19th September. Please let Melissa know if you want to come along with him.

Your used stamps can be turned into money for Nowzad Dogs! Just make sure the stamps have a small piece of the envelope around them as a border but no more than 4mm otherwise the Nowzad Dogs team have to sit there and do it! To make life easier, please wait until you have a large pile of used stamps before sending them. Please package them up and send to Nowzad Dogs, PO Box 3495, Corsham, SN13 7AE.
