We have been to see The Sound of Music again & loved it. We didn't think there would be any seats left as Hull theatre isn't very big but they decided to put a matinee on on Saturday, instead of the first show being on Saturday night, & we were able to get front row seats which we couldn't believe When we took our seats we saw Tom Carradine in the orchestra. This was the first time we'd seen Chris Barton as Rolf & he was great. Neil Moors is still in the ensemble - this time he was the priest who did Maria's wedding & he was a soldier at the end & he kept pointing his gun at the MD, which we thought was appropriate as the MD had been getting in our way a bit!! It was good to see Jason as the Captain - he was quite stern in the first half but more lovable in the second. Verity Rushworth (who was in Emmerdale & Hairspray) is Maria. She has a lovely, gentle voice & was very good. All the children did well too & it didn't look as though it was the first show

We have been to see Neil Moors as Captain Von Trapp & thought he was fantastic. He looked very distinguished with a bit of grey in his hair. We thought his performance was very moving & not as strict as Jason's. He mellowed sooner than Jason & he tried to be a loving Dad whereas Jason seemed distant. It was Neil's last day as he is going to be in Carmen in Scarborough, but we wished he could have stayed on as Captain while Jason is away doing his "Here and Now" tour. It was a great show & lovely to see Chris & Verity again

We went to see the Sound of Music in Newcastle on Saturday. We thought that there might not be any seats left as the theatre is quite small. There was one seat in the upper circle & an upper circle box for which we would have had to buy four seats. Then the box office got a message to say that company seats had just gone on sale so we got two of those. They were near the back of the stalls but they were good seats. Keiron Crook was Capt Von Trapp. We haven't seen him since he was in Jo at the New London Theatre & then Jerry Springer, so it was lovely to see him again. He was fabulous & we loved him in the role. One review described his voice as exquisite, which we thought was great. Verity is still playing Maria (as Connie is having voice problems) & she was brilliant as was Chris Barton & all the cast. We missed Neil as he is not in the show now but it was good to see Tom Carradine in the band
