We have been to see Dirty Dancing at Birmingham & our train was 30 minutes late, so no change there then I wasn't too keen on the film & we never got to see the show in London, but since it closed we've been wondering what we've been missing We thought it was a great show, but I did think that some of the dancing was a bit suggestive but I suppose it was to be expected as the age guidance for the show is 12. We'd been told that the leads don't sing, but I don't think I would have noticed - they concentrate on their dancing. It was good to hear lots of songs from the 60's. Wayne Smith plays Billy & he carries three big watermelons & sings a solo & a duet "I've had the time of my life" but doesn't dance Will Tyler is in the ensemble & did lots of dancing but no singing. The scenery was projected onto the back wall of the stage & changed quite often & was very good. When Johnny & Baby were practising their lift, the field & then the lake were projected in front of them which was very effective. The classic lines got cheers as did Paul-Michael Jones, who plays Johnny, quite a few times especially near the end when he walked from the back of the auditorium onto the stage. It is worth seeing the show just to see him!!!
