We managed to get to see Wayne Smith in Carlisle before the snow & ice got too bad. He was Dick Whittington & was great. He sang lots of solos & duets with Claire Buckfield who was Alice. Queen Rat sang lots of Michael Jackson songs. Wayne & Claire did the Bolero dance & all the cast did Riverdance & Wayne was in disguise in a big Irish hat. There was a rope hanging by the curtain & every so often someone pulled it & the band played "Its raining men" & people from the ensemble came out into the audience with big water pistols & made us wet. We spoke to Wayne after the show & he's going back on the tour of Dreamboats & Petticoats which starts soon.
We had a great time in Carlisle but the journeys were very stressful. The train we wanted from Darlington was cancelled & the next one would have got us to Newcastle too late for the connection, so we caught an earlier one which was running late, but we only had about 2 minutes in Newcastle to find the train. When we came back, we were delayed by nearly an hour because of points failure, then we had to wait in Newcastle for nearly an hour & the trains to & from Carlisle were freezing, so we were not best pleased.
