Daniel Boys :
Boys, Bedella & Medcalf Flaunt New Cabaret Show Date: 9th August 2007
West End stars David Bedella, Sharon D Clarke, John Owen-Jones, Kim Medcalf, Kerry Ellis, Dianne Pilkington, Summer Strallen and Any Dream Will Do’s Daniel Boys will star next month in the gender-swapping concert When You’ve Got It, Flaunt It!, which launches a series of three late night cabarets, held in aid of Theatrecares, at the West End’s Trafalgar Studios.
In When You’ve Got It, Flaunt It!, taking place in Studio 1 at 11.30pm on 6 September 2007, men will sing numbers performed in the relevant musicals by women and vice versa. The concert takes its title from the number in Mel Brooks’ The Producers sung by sexy secretary Ulla; at Trafalgar Studios, it will be sung by Simon Green (Sunday in the Park with George, Simply Sondheim). Other performers so far confirmed to take part – from shows including Wicked, Cabaret, Chicago, The Drowsy Chaperone, Avenue Q and The Lion King - are John Partridge, Susie McKenna and Brown Lindiwe.
Following When You’ve Got It, Flaunt It!, the West End casts of The Lion King and Mary Poppins will present their own late night cabarets as part of the season on 20 September and 1 October respectively.
All proceeds from the cabarets go to Theatrecares (formerly known as West End Cares), which in turn distribute funds to various HIV and AIDS projects in the UK and Africa. To date Theatrecares has raised over £2 million, with late night cabarets a mainstay of the charity’s events programme for many years.
Theatrecares chairman David Pendlebury commented: “We hope that our Late Night Cabarets will once again become a fixture in the London theatre calendar. In the past, performers have put on some exciting and extraordinary shows! You can bet these upcoming cabarets will be no exception.”

www.oxfordmail.netAntony keeps dreams alive By Andrew Ffrench Any Dream Will Do star Antony Hansen is returning to the big stage to star in a fundraising concert for his school next month. The teenage singing sensation won hundreds of fans with his appearance in the BBC1 series that aimed to find a singer to play the lead role in a new West End production of the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Lee Mead was the eventual winner of the contest but Antony, 17, from Steventon, won lots of praise for his strong vocal perform- ances. After handing in his coat of many colours on screen in May, Antony went on to give a number of performances for pupils at St Birinus School in Didcot. Next month, the teenager will be back in the limelight with a special concert at the New Theatre in Oxford to raise money for the drama departments at St Birinus and Didcot Girls' School. He said: "Musical theatre, drama and music are subjects that are very close to my heart. advertisement"This show will enable both schools to help other students live their dream of performing on stage. "I am most thankful to everyone who is supporting this worthwhile cause. I guarantee all audience members and the cast a night they will never forget." Antony and other runners-up from Any Dream Will Do will perform songs from the musical and other well-known West End shows. On Sunday, October 14, Antony will be joined on stage by one of the TV show's judges, Zoë Tyler, and fellow competitors, including Johndeep Moore and Chris Crosby, as well as boy band Eclipse and the choirs of Didcot Girls and St Birinus Boys School. New Theatre spokesman Joel Barnett said: "We're delighted to be hosting this show, which has been organised by Antony's dad Andy. "This is a 1,800-seater venue so it will definitely be a big night for Antony, who has won a place at Mountview, in London, which is one of the top two stage schools in the country. "Zoe Tyler, one of the judges from the show, will be there on the night, and there will be songs from the big musicals." Tickets for the show cost £22.50 (subject to booking fees). 5:50pm Friday 7th September 2007
