Jonathan Parkin will be playing Prince Charming in the Aylesbury Panto. Yea! I've been waiting for a chance to see Jonathan Parkin again. I first saw him as Joseph a while back and thought he was just brilliant so I am looking forward to panto in Aylesbury this year - wll bring the whole family to cheer him on.

We went to see Peter Pan in Leeds on Saturday. We got row B which were returned tickets & there weren't many empty seats, which surprised us as High School Musical was on at the other theatre & we thought that eveyone would be going there. The Playhouse isn't very big & the seats are in a semi-circle. It was great to see Simon Schofield as a lost boy & James Bisp as a pirate, though we wouldn't have recognised him if we hadn't known he was in the show. They were both in the show a lot - they came on first in the ensemble, singing & dancing & looking nice in suits & trilby hats. James Gillan was Peter Pan - we know him from Starlight Express & Martin Callaghan, who was in Superstar, was Smee. Part way through the first half just when it looked as though Peter was about to fly, a lady came on stage & said the show was stopping for a few minutes. The cast didn't seem to know what was happening & they all waved when the curtain came down. It was because the wires of those that were going to fly were twisted.
James said he remembered us from Jo which we thought was lovely as we hadn't seen him for ages. He was in Leeds 2 years ago in the Wizard of Oz. It was nice to talk to Simon again too. He & the lost boys turned the Xmas lights on in Leeds.

We went to York on Sunday to see Tim Driesen as Jack. We were a bit panicky when we saw the river which is close to the theatre. It had flooded up to the tops of the outside tables of the pub that is next to it & a few years ago Jo got cancelled as the theatre basement was flooded. We were glad to find that the box office was open but there was a notice on the door showing that a show was cancelled & at first we thought it was the matinee but it was the evening show. We could only get seats near the back of the stalls but it was ok as the theatre is quite small & we had a good view of Tim. He was fab & was in the show alot. The Dame had a different costume every time she came on stage. I wished I'd counted them but Tim said there were 11. He said that he hadn't been well since the show started on Friday & the leading lady had to sing some of his lines & he couldn't sing his solo but we thought he sounded great. There was no Fleshcreep - we had a wicked witch instead & her croaky voice was for real. After the show we found a continental market & we had Dutch pancakes with lashings of strawberry jam & cream......mmm delicious!! So that was a great end to a great day.

We have been to see Gareth Chart in Chesterfield & he was fab We'd just bought our tickets & then Gareth walked in (they don't have a stage door), so that was lovely seeing him before the show. He plays Prince Rupert & he's a very dashing prince with a good quiff & it was great to hear him sing a lot. Muddles kept calling him Rhydian & Eoghan. Dame Dolly & Muddles always came on stage together in different costumes each time. They must have had about 11 each. Gareth had a sword fight with the henchman at the end. The dwarves were played by children & they were all very good. The theatre is very small & we were lucky to get seats - I'd phoned up mid week & reserved the last 2 together which were in the second row of the circle which came round the side very close to the stage, so we were sat above the orchestra pit & they were great seats for seeing Gareth close up. I couldn't see the dwarves house which was at the back of the stage & I had to lean forward to see the mirror & there wasn't much leg room but for only £8 each we thought they were great seats. We hadn't been to Chesterfield before though we'd passed through it many times on the train. We think it's a lovely town - lots of narrow streets & "olde worlde" black & white buildings.

I went to see our new Joseph Gareth Gates yesterday in Wimbledon and a very good prince Charming he made, am looking forward to seeing him as Joe now. The whole cast were great and several big names but could all sing and dance as well as act.
Looking forward to seeing it again in a week or so, after my next trip to London to see Joe, and to book to see the new joseph

We have had a great time pantomiming. We have seen Eaton & Dean (who was in Never Forget) in Cinderella in Nottingham. The show started with a fairy who was sat high up in a circle & she introduced all the cast. Dean was the Prince & Eaton was Dandini but they weren't in the show much & they only sang one song each in the second half. Eaton sang "Let me entertain you." Brian Conley was Buttons & he was in the show all the time, but he was funny & kept "falling" into the orchestra pit. Eaton had been ill over Christmas & hadn't done the previous day's shows so we were lucky to see him.
Last week we saw Wayne as Pharaoh & no we weren't in Glasgow!! We went to Carlisle to see him as Jack in his panto. He came in on a bike down the aisles of the theatre, sang lots, told lots of jokes, kept falling over when the Princess talked to him & went into the audience to give sweets to the kids. When he sang "Song of the King" he had a nice white Elvis suit on with blue shoulder bits, blue flared bits on the trousers & a nice blue cape. We did the hand jive, then others in the show sang "Mamma Mia" & "Time Warp". Later on they sang "Slipping through my Fingers" & Waterloo". There was no Fleshcreep - instead there was Dr Evilstein & his friend & they started the show by making the giant. They spoke with foreign accents & reminded us of the 2 guys in Chitty. We chatted to Wayne in the foyer as they don't have a stage door so that was better than standing out in the freezing cold.
At the end of the week we went to London to see Richard & James which was great seeing them perform together again. We got our tickets just before the show started & got them cheap as we had a WOS offer of 25% off. We asked for closest to the front & were given end of row D which were good seats but the whole of the front row were empty so we moved in the interval & we were very close to the stage. Paul was a great Dame & it was lovely to meet him & Dominic was great as Buttons in his first show. We were a bit disappointed that the show lasted only 1 & 3/4 hours - even less than Jo. We met a lot of the cast afterwards & everyone was very nice & friendly & Brit's little dog was sweet.
The next day we wanted to see Lee as Jo for the last time & Michael as Pharaoh but it was a full house apart from 1 returned ticket. We waited at the stage door & saw lots of the cast go in but not Lee & by 2pm there was quite a lot waiting so we wondered if he had gone in a different way. We couldn't wait any longer as we decided to go & see Phantom. We got decent seats in the stalls but it looked full all round us. Simon Bailey was fantastic as Raoul & Stephen McCarthy was on stage a lot - he's a swing so isn't always on. Ramin, who we know when he played Chris in Miss Saigon, was the Phantom & he was great. It was nice to chat to them all after the show. Ramin said that he was Raoul when we saw the show 5 years ago - it's always nice to see people that we know.
