There will be an interview with Lee in the November issue of Teddy Bear Scene, the UK's leading magazine for adult teddy bear collectors.
Lee kindly answered questions as part of the magazine's feature on Children in Need, and he has also signed a special 'Meady' teddy bear which the magazine has had made and which we will be auctioning in aid of Children In Need.
The issue will be on sale from Thursday, 11th October. It is sold in most branches of WH Smiths but if anyone has difficulty obtaining a copy, they can contact the publishers, Warners Group Publications, on 01778 392011 or email subscriptions@warnersgroup.co.uk

Chit chat - Stick to singing Published Monday 17 September 2007 at 12:50 by Tabard
What do Lee Mead, bingo and breast cancer have in common?
Lee Mead's bingo dabber doodle for Breakthrough Breast Cancer No, that’s not the start of a particularly poor taste joke about middle aged women - Mr Mead, he of Joseph fame, has joined up with fellow TV talent show discovery Connie Fisher and Kim Medcalf (‘er off EastEnders, or Sally Bowles from Cabaret, depending on your persuasion) to support a new campaign by Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
It’s all in partnership with The Bingo Association - no, I’m not making this up - and the three of them have agreed to ‘dab a doodle’ using a bingo dabber. The doodles will then be auctioned off on eBay from October 21.
Having seen the trio’s efforts, Tabard would like to commend both Kim and Connie on some true artistic flair.
And Lee, well, let’s just say that he’s not exactly top of the shop. In fact, trained monkeys could probably do better. There’s a reality TV show in there somewhere.
The Stage.

Lee Mead - Hospital visit Singer Lee Mead had spent years performing for sea-sick ferry passengers and sun-burnt holiday makers before he took a chance and entered the reality show Any Dream Will Do. The former postman amazed the judges with his rich voice and stage presence – and the audience obviously loved him too because more than three million voted in the final. The 26-year-old is now the star of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in London’s West End. Camilla Francis caught up with Lee when he took time out of his busy schedule for a tour of Great Ormond Street Hospital. You must be fit for your job – how do you do that?I like to keep fit so I maintain a healthy diet and make regular trips to the gym. Performing in a show every night also keeps me in good shape. What are your top tips for looking and feeling good?Lots of water, a good nights sleep, a good diet, exercise and pride in your appearance. You say you like cooking – what are your tips for a healthy diet?Eat lots of fruit and veg balanced with some protein and carbs. Try and cook for yourself when possible as then you know what is and isn’t going into your food. Have you ever had to stay in hospital? How was that?I have a couple of times. Once I tore a tendon in my finger when I fell on a broken glass bottle. I stayed overnight and had stitches, but my stay was very short. What was difficult about being ill and how did you cope? Not being a long stay it was fine. There were a few moments when I wished I was at home with family rather than being ill in hospital. I coped by watching DVD’s and chatting to other people on the ward. What is your advice to children and young people who have health problems?Stay strong. Always talk to someone you can trust about your problems. Never keep them to yourself and trust that the doctors and nurses around you will do their very best to look after you. Also positive thinking can have an effect on your well being. How important is it for young people to access health information?Very important. Young people should be aware of what is happening in their own body so that they can pre-empt the early stages of an illness. Do you think there is enough health information out there for kids?I am not sure how much information for children there is, but more is always better. Interview with Lee in Ticketmaster Groups brochure Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is nothing short of a phenomenon and it is one of the most endearing shows of all time. Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s sparkling family musical has been a hit all over the world and continues to enjoy huge success with standing ovations at every performance.
With the liveliest, most energetic company of actors, singers and dancers, Joseph is brimming with non-stop action, laughter and infectious fun that will delight both the young and young at heart.
We met up with Lee Mead who is currently playing Joseph at the Adelphi Theatre in London’s West End.
Congratulations on winning the role of Joseph. What is it like to be a leading man at last? A great feeling. I’ve achieved and fortified an ambition I have always had. I’m having an incredible time.
Being a fully trained professional actor, how was it going through the reality TV route of being cast? No different for me in terms of my own standards – I treated it as any other audition for a role I really wanted to play. It was obviously not the same having TV cameras and the public having an insight into your personality though.
How do you feel about being watched for 8 shows a week dressed only in a loincloth? At first nervous, I made sure I got myself into the gym quick. After a while though it has become second nature.
Of the four judges on Any Dream Will Do, who gave you the best advice and who did you respect the most? Wouldn’t really like to pick out one person in particular. It was a top panel for a reason. They were all experienced in some way or another.
Which part of the show do you most look forward to performing? Have you forgotten your colour sequence yet? I haven’t forgotten my colours yet and I don’t intend to, although there are a lot to remember in certain order. As for my favourite part of the show, I’d say Close Every Door. I love the journey Joseph has to take leading up to that moment.
You are known for being an understudy on The Phantom of the Opera. How was it working on this show and how often did you perform? Working on the show was amazing. I was very lucky to be involved with such a production. It’s still one of my most favourite shows. I played the role of Raoul about thirty times over five months.
What was the last West End show you saw and did you enjoy it? Which current show would you most recommend to friends? The current show I could only really recommend as I’ve been busy, would be Wicked. Great night out!
If you had not won the role of Joseph, which of the other 11 boys do you think should have got it? Not for me to decide. Everyone had their strengths and weaknesses, but I did feel Daniel was a strong contender.
How much input did you have into the choice of songs you performed on Any Dream Will Do? Very little, if any. Our songs were chosen for us each week and the challenge being to adapt to any particular song. We were allowed to express our opinions though.
Have you seen any previous productions of Joseph? Who was your first / favourite Joseph? I have seen a few productions of Joseph over the years, mainly on tour. The first person I saw playing the role was Richard Swerrun. His energy and passion along with amazing vocals blew me away. He would also go down as one of my favourites along with Donny Osmond who I also admire.
Did Connie Fisher give you any advice on becoming a winner? No real advice, but she did pop into the programme once to make an appearance and gave us all an encouraging chat. She also told us what to expect if we won.
How are you coping with stardom and a life in the public eye? No real changes. I’m from a very grounded family. To a degree I have to be aware that I am more recognised and my lifestyle has altered but I don’t see who I am as a person changing.
