smg.photobucket.com/albums/v108/SueHastings/?action=view¤t=598c0b7e.flv ( this is the video Sue got, don't know if the link will work...) Hey all! I'm back! So,here's my story... Soo, met Sue and Dee after much wading through what looked the biggest school trip I've ever seen at Waterloo station, lol. Hurried over to the theatre, not forgetting to stop at Charing Cross for the loo , it might have been a long wait.. Got to the stage door about 12, no-one about... So, Sue and Dee are chatting, can't remember what I was doing but I looked up about 12.15 and there he was! and I said to Sue and Dee:" isn't that a Lee over there?". Don't know where he came from but he was right there, talking to some other ladies. So, over we go and I ask if he can sign my print out of the cast pics from the Joseph tour I did with him and he does, then we have a lovely photo, courtesy of the lovely Sue and I gave him the copies I got done of the cast pics for him and tried to explain that I was the one who handed in a card for him and copy of one of the cast pics and explained I was in the choir with him when I saw the show last week but it all came out wrong and then trailed off. Lee goes:" i get so many things, but I'll have a look at it". At least I think that's what he said( Sue and Dee, you may have to fill bits in if my flabbergasted brain has remembered things wrong...) But I did tell him we're both in the photos, then he had to go rehearse... ( don't know why, he's perfect enough at the role already ) Sooo about 12.50 he comes out for food and says to us " hiya, see you later", he did say it to all of us didn't he Sue, Dee? Help, I can't remember!! He went on down the road with who I'm guessing was his P.A. stood on the corner for a bit ( must have been deciding where to go ) and turned left and went down the road. He came strolling back about 1.05/1.10 and signs a few things, goes and nicks a chip from, ah heck, I don't wanna get your names wrong, umm Trudy, Rachel annnd... eeek, am I getting these right? anyway, you know who you are It was nice meeting you! and does some more signing and photos. He comes past us and I ask if he could please sign the photo of us( which Sue had kindly ran off and developed in Boots while we were waiting, handy having Boots in the Strand ) Soo here comes the embarrassing bit, again I'm babbling cos I'm nervous ( at least I'd stopped shaking, thank goodness!) and Lee asks me if i can hold the pen lid ( he kinda had his arms full with food) and for some reason, I went for the pen part and Lee goes " the lid". Must have thought I was sooo stupid! Anywho, I apologised and he signed it, pausing to say " J.U.L.I.E yeah? " lol and " blimey you got that done quick ( the photo), you only took it half an hour ago!" then i mumbled something about yeah we... ahhhh I can't remember what i said!!! Sue, Dee - help!! anywho, Sue managed to get a little film of on her digicamera so maybe that'll reveal the mystery of whatever happened at that moment lol. Then another girl came across and asked him to sign her ticket while I was in the middle of trying to get out " you were amazing last week, i saw the show wednesday" or words to that effect. But I don't think he heard me, then he was gone Don't think he realised I was acting like a muppet cos I was nervous... Photo(s) if Dee got one as well, she thinks she did:) to come soon I just hope Lee didn't think I was being deliberately unhelpful with the pen thing... But still - thud! Julie xx

Wow! What a fabulous night the Gala Performance was in aid of the Oxford Transplant Unit. Amazing to think that the show Joseph is going to help so many people. Unfortunately I did not get the chance to meet Lee, but the champagne and nibbles kind of made up for it.
Bright blessings

What madness Joseph or should I say Lee is causing. The foyer was packed we could hardly move. Doors dont open til 2.30pm and the show starts at 3pm. How ridiculous with hundreds of people wanting to buy programmes, brochures and goodies in the shop. mugs, Keyrings, 2 different types of badges, T shirts, CD of Any Dream Will Do (Lee) Cast album (Jason D), crayons, pens etc., Theatre is definately cashing in here. Brochure of the current cast is £6 but it does have a great poster inside of Lee in his prison cell. Programme (either £3 or £3.50p cant remember now) Only 5 womens toilets for 800 capacity theatre. Anyway, Had a box and the view was fantastic, very clear view of Lee. When he decends from the clouds is a sight to behold. This production is very like the Donny Osmond video, I never saw JD version. All the cast are amazing. Pharoah is comical, no screaming girl up his leg and he didnt drop his scarf to anyone. Loved the new song. Its a bit like Its Now or Never (Elvis song).Dont want to say too much. He dosent play a brother as well like the tour, just the Pharoah. I thought Lee may have had a sore throat. Sat by Darryl a big theatre fan. Hi Darryl. Preeya is a wonderful narrator. The sheep which came on the revolving stage are, red and yellow and green and..... with a little lamb suckling, and a black sheep sitting by Jacob . The brothers and their wives are very good singers and dancers. Hello to Adam (Baker) and Tom (Benjamin). They were the only two I got pics of today. I loved the disco part At the end the cast wear white clothes instead of their eastern clothes and leave off their arabic head gear and beards. so at least we can recognise them when they come out. OMG The charriot of gold is fantastic. Love it when Lee rises into the audience. To be honest I dont like the multi coloured coat much prefer the touring huge coat . Lee of course was utterly amazing, as he always is, even with his heavy work schedule on and off the stage. Bless the boy. Hello Natalie from myspace. Met her briefly at the entrance. Lee comes out to give away signed pic of himself for about 5 mins. The crowds outside were screaming like mad fools. I stayed inside. He was then whisked away by 6 burly bouncers , he only had time to say hello are you alright to me, and was hurried along, hmpf!!! I had a file of messages and comments off Lee's fans but was unable to give them to him, so I gave them to a security chap later on, but I saw this same person with my bag go for a coffee with the bag in his hand. so no idea if Lee actually got it. Alison was also at the Adelphi, and when she is back from London next week, she will give you her review then. Thats all for now folks. ;D ;D Well worth at least one visit. But do you know what, I still love the touring Joseph and cant wait to see that. Lynda xxx Adam Pearce (Baker) Tom Gillies (Benjamin)

Ali's Comment:
don't have the words to describe how awesome the show was last night, I'm still in awe of the whole thing! Lee was amazing - a true star and absolutely right for the role, the Narrator (Preeya) has such a beautiful voice, and the rest of the cast were fantastic too! I don't think I've ever seen such an energetic show.....I want to see it again...NOW!

For some any dream will do. But not for the winner of the recent BBC talent show of the same name.
For actor, Lee Mead there was only one dream and that was to be the lead in Joseph & his Amazing Technicolour Dream Coat.
On 6th July he got his dream when the musical opened at the Adelphi Theatre in the Strand. As Lee took to the stage in his first lead role in the West End, the question begging to be asked is did the audience get their dream too?
In his coat of many colours Lee was amazing. Bare chested, dripping with sweat, he was fantastic; women throughout the theatre cheering as he was stripped to his loin cloth, all of them wishing they could get closer to the deliciously good looking Essex actor.
The show opened with the familiar ‘Any Dream…’ song to an enthralled audience. Preeya Kalidas (East is East, Bombay Dreams, Bend it Like Beckham) as the narrator guided the show skilfully through each splendid musical number along with the children’s choir.
All the main parts were superbly cast, among them Dean Collinson (Whistle Down the Wind, Notre Dame de Paris) as Pharoah, Stephen Tate (Jesus Christ Superstar, A Chorus Line, Cats) as Jacob and John Alastair (Mamma Mia) as Reuben, and all the supporting actors and actresses who were enthusiastic and full of energy and keen to show the audience what they could do.
And show us they did. The show was a lively mix of humour, familiar songs and comic timing and yes, Lee Mead was everything we had hoped he would be. For me this was a better show than the Jason Donovan, Donny Osmond, Phillip Schofield era and with Lee in the role, Joseph has been reborn. You’d be foolish to miss it.

Went to see the show yesterday (Wed 8 August matinee) Was so giddy beforehand at the prospect of seeing Lee in person, i was almost hyperventilating. Nearly did when a couple of the cast came out into the foyer about 90 mins before the show and started changing the cast names on display. I was just waiting for Lee's name to be replaced by someone else....thankfully it didn't! Preeya's name changed though - apparently she's not doing matinees. The Adelphi Theatre is very small, but perfect for this show. Its really cosy and you almost feel like you're part of the show. We sat in the second row of the dress circle and these were great seats. Anyway, won't give any of the show away, but i can honestly say it was fantastic. All of the cast were excellent, the alternative Narrator was great (Fiona Reyes) and Lee was amazing. The show just flew over and as soon as it finished, i wanted it to start all over again. My favourite bits were Lee singing Close Every Door (he actually sang it best at the end of the show - to start off the megamix). When he sang it, i had goosebumps all over and could feel my heart pounding in my chest. And i also liked it when he frames Benjamin, the serious angry Lee makes an appearance, ala Paint it Black performance. His comic timing is faultless and he smiles all the way through the show! (and wears the loincloth for most of it too After the show we waited at the front entrance of the theatre. Probably about 20/25 mins after the show had finished, Lee came out and handed out some signed pics and autographed a few programmes. I got quite close and got a few pics and my programme signed. I thought it was fantastic that he came out, however, the whole situation was handled badly by the theatre security. They kept shouting at everyone and had a really bad attitude. They shouted for everyone to send the children up to the front but then told one woman to move back. When she said she didn't want to leave her children, the security guy said "well you'll have to take your children to the back then". I thought it was a nice idea to have the kiddies at the front, until Lee came out and i realised it wasn't. Firstly, expectedly, there is a little pushing in the crowd and so kiddies were trapped at the front. Secondly, it meant that none of Lee's adult fans could really get anywhere near him to chat. I would have loved to have told him that he'd been fantasic and that we'd really enjoyed the show but it felt as if the security were in charge and just wanted to parade him for a few mins and then scupper him away. Don't get me wrong, i think Lee coming out after every performance is a very generous way of him showing his gratitude to his fans. I just think he would get more from it (banter and support from his fans) and us fans would get more from it, without the overbearing heavy handed security. We were having a drink in a bar just beside the stage door later on and the Pharoah came out (Dean Collinson). We ended up chatting to him for about 10 mins, got pics, autographs etc and it was lovely to be able to tell him that we'd loved the show. Its just a shame we didn't get the chance to tell Lee. Overall, it is a funny, entertaining, enjoyable show, and Lee is a wonderful Joseph. If you haven't booked already, i recommend you do, you won't be dissapointed! Lynsey x

Great review thanks Lynsey, I agree with you on the security side of things, when i worked for a theatre and cast members wanted to meet the fans we got the fans to line up and we useherd them thru to a table, that way everyone got their few mins with the stars ;D suppose being London and the fact there are soooooooo many ppl wanting to see Lee it's not so easy.
Still glad you enjoyed the show! ;D

We went to London on Friday for a wedding on Saturday & we couldn't let the opportunity go by without trying to get Jo tickets for Friday night. We knew the show was a sell out so we tried all the ticket booths in Leicester Square then went to the theatre & they'd just got some returns. They were in the middle of row L in the stalls & were brilliant. Lee was fantastic & the show was very different from the tour. We loved the way Lee came down from the rainbow at the start & the way he came out over the audience in his gorgeous coat at the end & he was very impressive in his chariot of gold. The kids sang on the stage at the beginning of the second half & all the cast came on at the end dressed in white & without their wigs on to sing the megamix. There were some bits I wasn't keen on (can't believe I'm saying that about our favourite show) but that's probably because I don't like changes - the kids kept running up & down the steps & on & off the stage, Mrs Potiphars bit & the Pharoah bit seemed too long though we did like the new song. Lee came out & looked as though he was quite happy to sign everyone's programme but after a few autographs his minder said that was enough & they went back in. So we went to the stage door & got to talk to Lee before he jumped into a car. Then we went on a stage door crawl & spoke to Simon Lipkin, Russel, Greg Bradley & Trevor who are all well & enjoying their shows.

The following review was received from Binny on myspace.
Hi, not long in from seeing the matinee of Joseph today, but i want to share before the feeling fades. I apologise now for spelling and grammar mistakes!
I expected to come home and feel bouncy, lusty and way over the top excited, but i'm none of those things!
We (my 8yr old daughter and 72 yr old father in law) got to the theatre around 2.15 and place was just starting to fill up. We stood at the merchandise kiosk and bought all the usual tat. You have to be quick as they dont have huge amounts of stock of everything but apparentley there are more kiosks on the upper level. At 2.30 they opened the doors and everyone flooded in. We had seats 25-27 row B of the stalls. Fantastic seats, you feel you could reach out and touch them! The orchestra started up and hairs on the back of my neck stood on end. At this point i'd like to say the orchestra was fantastic and all the way through i could all the singing clearly, they were not too loud today as some people have mentioned in the past.
So the preformance.
The Voice
Lee was fantastic. His dancing, singing and acting were so much more more than i could ever hope for. The only way to describe his voice is rich and smooth but full of character, he was note perfect and when he belted out the required big notes i was amazed to hear the strength of his voice and passion that he delivered it with.
The Acting
He was very believable as a young man. He was handsome, smart and conveyed the feeling that he was his fathers favourite very well. I felt suitably moved when he sang CED and i his comedic timing especially when we was being seduced by Mrs Potipher was amazing. He is a really funny man! Lee came into his own when he left the jail and was employed by the Pharoa. This reminded me of his PIB performance. He was intense he, was masterful, he commanded your attention and boy he got it! Up until this point i was watching Lee intently but still managed to enjoy the whole cast ( a special mention for all the brothers and espically the rubber faced baker and Dean Collinson, soo funny!) but once he donned the head gear for me that was it. There was only Lee on the stage. He dominated the whole stage. He, along with the rest of the cast had the power to make me be sad, laugh and sad again within the space of a few moments. They we all superb! At this point i'd like to mention that Kate Tydman took the role of Narrator and if she was 2nd understudy i cant imagine how good the first two must be. She was excellent at explaining the story, had beautiful voice and was not overpowering, but an excellent support to the cast and the kids where lovely!
The Dancing
Boy can that man move! He can jiggy with the best of them! It never showed you on Any Dream Will Do what Lee can do at all, his movements were fluent, energentic and he danced with ease. My only complaint was at the megamix it was all too brief. He has fantastic sense of rythm and easily matched his brothers in his prowess. Very impressed indeed!
.
Lee and the rest of the cast got a well deserved standing ovation. I cant speak for everyone but my little group thought it was worth every penny we spent to get there and see the show. We came through the doors huming the tunes and smiling like complete idiots (as was everyone else!) I thought at this point i would feel full of lust and be completely hyper as i'd just watched 'My Joseph', but didn't. The best way to describe it is contentment. Yep i'd just watched LEE MEAD looking extremely TONED and RIPPED in a LOINCLOTH. The most charasmatic performer i've ever seen (and i've seen a few!) He oozes easy charm out of every sweating pore and yes ladies you can see the sweat slowly dripping down his not-so-smooth chest onto his defined torso! So why am i not lusting and heavy breathing over Lee? Its because he makes you feel comfortable to watch him. His eyes shine and he literally sparkles when he's on the stage. He is a happy happy man who appreciates his 'break' and his audiences. You can tell when he's not acting and you see the real Lee smile. Its awesome and he's still amazed at the reaction he gets! I came away feeling proud and i'll say it again CONTENT. He made me feel that he was 'my' Lee and 'i' helped him and he was doing the best he could to say thanks. He is SOOOO much more than the loincloth!
So to sum up. This is only my opinion, well worth the money, Lee was actually a whole lot better than what i expected (and that was a lot). The show is suitable for the very young and old alike. A fantastic day out for all, a feel good show if ever there was one!
